Opuntia microdasys- Bunnies ears cacti MIX BATCH
The bunny ear cactus is a popular houseplant that is not only attractive but is also low-maintenance. Native to northern Mexico and the Arizona desert, the cactus is known by several common names including bunny ear cactus, angel’s wings cactus, and polka dot cactus. But don’t be fooled by these cute nicknames, while the bunny ear cactus might look less threatening than other cacti varieties with large and intimidating spikes, this cactus is just as prickly. Each white “dot” on the surface of the bunny ear cactus is a glochid, which are patches of hundreds of small spines that easily dislodge in the skin. Thus, take care when handling a bunny ear cactus and always wear protective gloves.
The cactus has a slow growth rate and takes up to 20 years to reach maturity. It rarely blooms indoors.
NOTE-make sure you choose your colour way!
How to care for your Cacti -
Water: water sparingly especially in the winter months. Best done from the bottom by standing your cacti in water.
Light: like with all cacti lots of natural light is best with some full sun where possible.
Humidity: Happy in a little humidity but water less. Don’t keep in direct humidity
Temperature: They love the warmth and can tolerate some temperature drops but will need to be protected from frost in winter months.
